This was my first time using Prestige. I noticed their truck on the road and there was enough info as to what they do printed on the truck to satisfy what was looking for. I called and they sent a very nice gentleman (owner) and we discussed my repair job and came to a reasonable price. Was told 2- 4 weeks and they were ready within that promised time. They called and we agreed to a time and day to do the job. Their men were very respectful of my house and property and did the job quickly and neatly to my 100% satisfaction. I definitely will call them again for my window and door work in the future!

We used Prestige twice in the past few month. They replaced a defective window pane and a few months later replaced an entire window unit in another room. We are very satisfied with their workmanship and would recommend using them.

patio door glass installation near me in Suffolk and Nassau County

Window Repair in Franklin Square, NY

Franklin Square is a dense, inland Nassau County hamlet in the Town of Hempstead, with a housing pattern shaped by Long Island’s post-World War II suburban expansion. The community covers about 2.9 square miles, has more than 10,000 housing units, and sits between Elmont, West Hempstead, Garden City South, Stewart Manor, and North Valley Stream.
Unlike Glen Cove or the South Shore, Franklin Square is not a salt-air waterfront community. Its window problems come from age, density, freeze-thaw movement, sun exposure on compact lots, and decades of replacement-window cycles. Homes near Hempstead Turnpike, Rath Park, Averill Boulevard Park, and the older side streets often show foggy glass, worn balances, failed caulk, sticking sash, and misaligned doors.
Prestige Window Works provides window repair in Franklin Square, NY from the Manhasset office serving Nassau County. Since 2014, our team has repaired insulated glass units, window mechanisms, double-hung balances, patio doors, storm doors, recaulking joints, and older wood trim throughout Nassau communities. Call 516-908-8005 for a free estimate and a written quote before any work begins.

Window Problems in Franklin Square, NY

Franklin Square’s repair patterns come from inland suburban aging rather than waterfront corrosion. Many homes were built or heavily updated during periods when insulated glass units, aluminum storms, vinyl replacements, and patio doors became common. Now those systems are old enough to show seal failure, balance fatigue, lock wear, and caulk breakdown.

Cloudy Panes

The glass looks dirty, but cleaning both sides does nothing because the haze sits between panes. Franklin Square has many renovation-era replacement windows old enough for IGU seal failure. Replacing the insulated glass unit can restore visibility and performance without removing a frame that still fits the opening correctly.

Dropping Sash

A double-hung window opens, then slides down or refuses to stay where you leave it. In Franklin Square homes, balance systems often wear after years of daily use, especially in bedrooms and kitchens. A balance or mechanism repair restores safer operation and helps prevent cracked glass, damaged locks, or bent tilt hardware.

Split Caulk

A thin line opens around the exterior casing, usually after winter or repeated sun exposure. Franklin Square’s inland freeze-thaw cycles push and pull joints around replacement windows and additions. Proper recaulking protects the wall cavity, but the trim should be inspected first so hidden rot is not sealed inside.

Dragging Doors

A patio or side door scrapes the sill, catches at the strike plate, or needs a hard push to latch. Many Franklin Square homes have older additions or rear-entry doors that shift slightly over time. Adjustment can correct hinges, rollers, thresholds, and locks before the door damages the frame.

Stiff Cranks

A casement window opens partway, then binds or grinds under pressure. This often comes from worn operators, bent arms, dry hinges, or sash movement rather than the glass itself. Mechanism repair identifies the failed part and keeps homeowners from forcing the crank until the operator strips.

Drafty Corners

Air comes through one corner even though the window appears closed. In compact Franklin Square homes, older weatherstrip, uneven sash compression, and small frame shifts can create localized leaks. Adjustment or weatherstrip service should target the exact gap instead of replacing a window that may still be serviceable.
Why Franklin Square Needs Local Window Pros
Franklin Square homeowners most often need window repair for aging insulated glass units, worn window balances, failed exterior caulk, door misalignment, and renovation-era replacement windows installed during earlier home upgrades. Because Franklin Square is inland and fully landlocked, its window issues are usually driven by age, suburban density, freeze-thaw expansion, and deferred maintenance rather than direct coastal salt exposure. Prestige Window Works serves Franklin Square from its Nassau County office in Manhasset and provides repair-focused service for glass replacement, mechanism repair, window adjustment, door adjustment, recaulking, and wood window repair.

Local Window Conditions

Franklin Square developed rapidly as farmland gave way to post-war residential construction; local historical summaries note that by 1952, the farms were gone and replaced by newly built homes for families moving from New York City. That history matters for window repair. Many houses here began as Capes, colonials, split-levels, or ranch-style homes, then received additions, enclosed porches, replacement windows, and new doors over several decades. Each renovation layer creates different failure points.

The inland location changes the diagnosis. Franklin Square does not have the direct harbor moisture that affects North Shore waterfront homes, but its dense residential layout — more than 10,700 people per square mile according to Census Reporter — creates compact side yards, shaded wall sections, close fences, and limited drying space around some elevations. After rain or snow, moisture can stay trapped around trim, sill noses, thresholds, and caulked joints longer than homeowners expect.

That means Franklin Square calls often start with ordinary symptoms: a cloudy pane, a window that will not stay open, a patio door that drags, or a draft near a side elevation. The correct repair depends on the cause. A foggy double-pane unit may need glass replacement, while a sash that drops may need window mechanism repair or balance work. If water is entering around trim, window recaulking may be part of the solution, but only after the surrounding wood is checked.

Brands We Service Locally

Franklin Square homes often include window and door systems added during renovations or additions. Prestige Window Works services Jeld-Wen window and door repair for worn locks, failed glass units, sash alignment, and weatherstrip issues.

We also repair Therma-Tru door systems and Larson storm doors and windows, especially when entry doors begin sticking, leaking air, or failing to latch properly.

For hardware-related problems, Prestige Window Works handles Hoppe door hardware repair and Amesbury window and door hardware repair for locks, handles, hinges, rollers, and operating parts.

THE MOST POPULAR QUESTIONS

Who does window repair in Franklin Square, NY?
Prestige Window Works provides window repair in Franklin Square, NY through its Manhasset office serving Nassau County. Call 516-908-8005 to schedule a free estimate.
Why are my Franklin Square windows foggy between the panes?
Fog between panes usually means the insulated glass unit seal has failed. Many Franklin Square homes have replacement windows old enough for IGU failure, and glass replacement may solve the issue without replacing the frame.
Do Franklin Square homes need salt-air window repair?
Usually not in the same way as waterfront North Shore or South Shore communities. Franklin Square is inland, so the more common issues are aging glass seals, failed caulk, freeze-thaw movement, worn balances, and door misalignment.

Yes. We inspect the sash, trim, sill, glass, balance system, and exterior seal to determine whether wood repair, reglazing, glass replacement, or adjustment is the right repair.
