Wood Window Restoration
Aging wood windows can lose their durability and appeal, as one homeowner in Glen Head experienced. Their window frames were showing signs of rot, peeling paint, and weakened wood, causing drafts and structural concerns. To restore their original condition and protect the home, they contacted Prestige Window Works for expert wood window restoration.
The Prestige Window Works team conducted a thorough inspection, identifying significant areas of rot and damage in the wooden frames. To resolve the issues, they recommended a comprehensive wood window restoration, focusing on repairing the damaged sections while maintaining the window’s original design.
The process in Glen Head began with carefully removing the decayed sections of the wood using specialized tools. This precision work ensured that only the damaged areas were removed, preserving the integrity of the surrounding structure.
The exposed areas were then treated with a high-strength wood hardener, which stabilized the remaining material and prevented further decay. This step reinforced the existing structure, creating a solid foundation for the next phase of restoration.
Damaged sections were rebuilt using durable wood filler, expertly shaped to match the original contours of the window frame. Once the filler had cured, the frames were sanded to achieve a smooth, uniform finish.
To protect the restored windows from future weather-related damage, the team applied a weather-resistant sealant followed by a fresh coat of paint. This not only rejuvenated the appearance of the windows but also provided long-lasting protection against moisture and wear.
If your wood windows are deteriorating or showing signs of damage, contact Prestige Window Works today for expert wood window restoration in Glen Head. Trust our skilled team to bring your windows back to life with precision and care.
