Window Glass Replacement
At Prestige Window Works, we recently completed a broken window glass replacement in Amityville, NY. A homeowner contacted us after debris from a storm cracked one of their large living room windows. They worried about both security and energy loss caused by the damage, needing a quick solution to restore the window’s integrity. We quickly responded and scheduled an on-site assessment.
When we arrived, we carefully evaluated the damaged window. The glass was shattered, but fortunately, the frame was still intact. This meant we could focus solely on replacing the glass, avoiding any major structural work. In Amityville, where weather can shift rapidly, getting this done quickly was crucial to prevent further issues like drafts, moisture infiltration, or even pest entry.
We recommended tempered glass for the replacement because of its durability and safety. Tempered glass is designed to break into small, blunt pieces, reducing the risk of injury if it ever breaks again. In addition to the safety benefits, this type of glass is also highly energy-efficient, which helps maintain a stable indoor temperature—especially important for a town like Amityville with its varied seasons.
Next, we carefully removed the broken glass, making sure not to damage the existing frame. We took our time with this step to avoid further issues. Once cleared, we installed the new tempered glass, securing it tightly within the frame using a strong sealant to ensure no air or moisture would seep through. Proper sealing is always a priority, particularly in coastal towns like Amityville where humidity can be an issue.
Once the glass was in place, we performed a thorough inspection to ensure a perfect fit and smooth operation. The homeowner was thrilled with how the new glass blended seamlessly with the existing windows. They also mentioned feeling more comfortable knowing the window was now both stronger and more energy-efficient, improving their home’s security and overall value.
