Foggy Window Glass Repair on Long Island
Fog or moisture between the panes means the seal on your glass has failed. You don't need a new window: we replace just the glass unit in your existing frame, covered by our 10-year warranty.
Why double-pane windows fog
A double-pane window is two sheets of glass sealed at the edge with dry, insulating gas between them. Years of sun, cold and salt air break the edge seal down; humid air gets in and condenses between the panes. Wiping won't help, because the moisture is inside the unit and the insulating gas has already leaked out.
Defog, replace the window, or replace the glass unit?
Defogging drills and dries the unit, but the seal stays broken and the fog usually returns. Replacing the whole window costs far more and means new frames and trim. Replacing only the glass unit clears the view for good, restores the insulation, and keeps your frames, hardware and paint.
How we replace a foggy glass unit
- We measure the unit and note Low-E, tempered glass or grids.
- We order a new sealed unit made to size.
- We remove the old unit, set the new one and reseal the sash.
- Glass-unit installations carry our 10-year warranty.

What homeowners say
My bay window was fogged over and looked terrible. Other window shops were not interested in replacing only the affected pane. It took a few weeks to get the replacement pane made, but Prestige installed it in 15 minutes and at a reasonable price.
Prestige Windows done a great job replacing 5 double pane glass on my windows and large castom glass panel in one of my walls. Great communication, ready in 2 days, installed all at once. Very professional. Highly recommend!
Our experience with Prestige was excellent! We had a half round window with crack across the glass. They were very professional, courteous, have fair pricing, and got the job done in a reasonable amount of time.
Questions homeowners ask
Can a foggy window be repaired?
The seal itself can't be re-glued reliably. The permanent fix is a new insulated glass unit in your existing frame, which clears the fog for good and costs far less than a new window.
How to fix foggy windows without replacing them?
We replace just the sealed glass unit, not the window. We measure it, order the unit to size (matching Low-E, tempered glass or grids) and install it in your existing sash. Glass-unit installations carry our 10-year warranty.
What is an IGU window replacement?
IGU means insulated glass unit: the sealed double- or triple-pane glass inside the sash. An IGU replacement swaps only that sealed unit, not the frame or the window.
How much does it cost to replace an insulated glass unit?
A single pane or glass unit starts at $300 installed. The price rises with size, tempered or Low-E glass and grids; we give you the exact figure after measuring.
Can thermopane glass be replaced?
Yes. Thermopane is an older name for insulated glass; we replace the sealed unit in your existing frame.
